    Dear Pat,

You were truly one of my childhood Hero’s and came to my rescue many times!

Granny always marveled at the thought and care you put into each and every card you gave her, to make sure it said just the right thing.

I remember the time you took Wanda and I for a driving lesson at the Morningside school, and she floored it, heading right toward the side of the school! You grabbed the wheel, and after we did donuts around a bush, we finally came to a stop! After you regained your composer, you said something like, “I think it’s your sisters turn to drive.”

You were the fastest two fingered typist ever, and to my surprise, I never did get addicted to sunflower seeds like you said I would on the many occasions I’d walk to the GI market for a bag.

Thank you for all the love and support over the years and for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself.

I love you. Your first niece.

I believe his legacy to his daughters will never be forgotten. He was a happy man and it was clear that his two daughters brought joy to his life. He always saw the ‘brighter’ side of life and tried to impress this upon his children. I hope and pray that this is what they will remember about him the most, and the fact that he loved them very much.

Erin, having lost both parents some years ago and my husband 1 1/2 years ago I know how hard this is for you. Remember all the memories that you have of your mom and dad and cherish them because in the end that is all we have are our memories. I know they must have been so proud of you.
