Jan E. Lindsey

Jan E. (Bryan) Lindsey 71, of New Port Richey passed peacefully away Thursday, October 23, 2014.  She was born to the late Elma and Wilson Bryan, February 24, 1943, in Lewes Delaware.   Jan is survived by her husband of 45 years Carlo, her daughter Cindi Lindsey-Hinds, her sons Joe and Aaron Lindsey, and five grandchildren, Daniel Hinds, Jeremey Lindsey, Josh Lindsey, Stephen Hinds and Amy Lindsey.
Jan was a retired nurse from both San Mateo County and Santa Clara County and a nurse educator specializing in correctional nursing. She achieved a  Masters in Nursing Sciences with an emphasis in education.  She was also a surveyor for the National Commission on Correctional Health Care throughout the U.S.  She was a member of the American Psychiatric Association for Nurses, American Correctional Health Services Association, National Correctional Health Care Academy.  Additionally, she obtained a certificate in Correctional Health Care.  She volunteered for the Disaster Health Services of the American Red Cross and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0017 in Lewes, Delaware.  After retiring to Florida she took up golfing at the Seven Springs Golf and Country Club and was the  Treasurer of the Seven Springs Garden Club.  Her ashes were scattered over the Gulf of Mexico.
Her children remember her being wrong once but it turns out she was just incorrect.  The grandchildren remember her having no problem keeping her opinions to herself however freely expressing them when least expected. Jan was wonderful teacher with a youthful outlook that allowed her bring out the inner child in all of us.  She will be missed by all who know her.

    It is with sadness to hear of Jan’s passing. My condolences go out to her family and friends. I have been a fellow surveyor with the National Commission along with Jan for many years. Her professionalism and positive attitude will be missed. May she rest in peace.
